The Former President of the Stella Maris Polytechnic Sis. Mary Laurene Browne has been decorated and awarded with the honor of Distinguished Services Order by H.E. Joseph Nyumah Boakai, Sr.
The award was bestowed on Sis. Laurene Browne for didicating her life to faith, education, and nation building in Liberia.
The citation read; “I, Joseph Nyumah Boakai, President of the Republic of Liberia, and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Liberia, do hereby, decorate and award you, the Distinguished Service Order. Your unwavering services to Liberia brings immense credit to yourself, your family, and the men and women in arms of the Armed Forces of Liberia”.
Pres. Boakai, described Sis. Browne as an outstanding educator to whyLiberia, and justified the honor, noting, “ Her tireless efforts in shaping Liberia’s future stand from her demonstration of her faith, dedication toward humanity and for her parallel service to the Republic of Liberia “, the citation read.
The distinguished award was bestowed on her on February 11, 2025, at the 68th Armed Forces Day celebration held at the Edward Beyan Kesseley’s Barack, in Marshall, Margibi County.
Sis Laurene Browne is a Liberian Catholic Sister, a distinguished scholar and educator and former president of the Stella Maris Polytechnic public servant who has received several awards both nationally and internationally.
She also earns degrees in French, English, and Literature from prestigious universities around the world.
Sis. Browne served as the the keynote speaker and chief launcher of the Kyne Hand’s Foundation recently.
