Why I Established Kyne’s Hands Foundation; KHF’s CEO, Mrs. Kengo Reveals.

Kyne’s Hands Foundation Founder and Chief Executive Officer, CEO Mrs. Cynthia Kengo has disclosed reasons behind the establishment of a foundation to support children .

According to Mrs. Kengo, Kyne Hand’s Foundation is was founded in honor of her Mother, Mrs. Nancy J. Kyne, for the sufferings she endured just to educate them and become productive citizens.

The foundation’s goal is to provide care for vulnerable children in Liberia through free and quality education, the provision of food and non food items, basic health care, and prevention of abuse children.

In an emotionally charged conversation with KHF’s volunteers in Monrovia, Mrs. Kengo began by narrating what her mother told her as a teenager then.

She recalled that at a young age, her dad, Mr. John L. Kyne emigrated to the United States of America leaving her brother, her younger sister Alfreda and her in the care of their mother.

According to Mrs. Kengo, her mother explained that she lived with her stepmother as a teenager who frequently abused her and refused to sponsor her in school (Pay for her tuition).

If she had to, Mrs. Kengo narrated, she would go to school with just a pen and sheet. She explained that her mother was subjected to harsh treatments and made to do all sorts of house chores, including disposed off feaces of her foster parent who inflicted wounds on her from severe tortures.

She was always greeted by physical and mental tortures and had to flee in search of her blood family members and subsequently was unable to continue her education.

Unfortunately, Mrs. Kengo continued; none of her mother’s siblings came to her rescue until a family friend took her in and promised to send her to school. That didn’t happen though.

As a consequence of that, her mother didn’t get formal education when she started to have children.

“She showed me scars and wounds on her body that were inflicted by people she lived with then. I broke down when I listened to her explaining her story. I really love my mother” Mrs. Kengo mentioned.

Narrating further, Mrs. Kengo highlighted a similar situation she encountered like her mother, while staying with other family members.

She explained how she was ill treated and abused many times in similar manner like it was done to her mother.

“They didn’t show any interest in my wellbeing and development. They always said to me that I will never become anybody in life and would eventually turn out to be just like my mother whom they considered illiterate”, Mrs. Kengo stated this whilst tears rolled down her eyes.

She said “I slept alone on the floor just at the entrance immediately when you enter the house.”

Mrs. Kengo said due to those horrible experiences she and her mother endured, she was motivated to establish the Kyne’s Hands Foundation in order to help all unfortunate Liberian children.

“Those horrible memories of my mother and I encouraged me to go to school and establish this foundation to help children not to go through the same bad treatments my mother and I, especially went through”, Mrs. Kengo revealed.
“I am grateful to God for answering my prayers and the prayers of my mother”, KHF’s CEO.

The Kyne Hands Foundation CEO expressed empathy for Liberian children who are currently suffering from similar and other forms of abuses mented against them and there is little or no immediate intervention to stop it .

Mrs. Kengo concluded by pledging the KHF’s commitment to provide dignity for Liberian children and call on the Government of Liberia, humanitarian organizations, local and international partners and civil society organizations for more support.

The Kyne Hands Foundation is a non-profit organization established on the principle of providing care for vulnerable children. It is funded through donation and goodwill.
